*New Song* Two Sugars – Jun 06, 2009

mp3: Two Sugars Please – Naked Shout
–

Two Sugars Please
You’ve got something that you have to do
You come around, wanting me to do it for you
but you can’t be a man, no
without a fire in your heart, a fist in your hand
a pocket full of rubbers and a full brass band
If your able, take your elbows off the table
You always want what you can’t afford
Get up now, it’s almost four o clock
I sit you down and make you a cup of tea
two sugars please
and the varnish on the kitchen table
it reflects our faces, in the most pleasing colours
I ask you what I think is a simple question:
‘How’s your mother, how’s she doing this week?’
‘well…’ comes your answer;
‘she’s getting older, but aren’t we all?’
Please, if your able, take your elbows off the table.
Don’t do it now, my hands are tied
I’m here all week, with my foolish pride
So what, I’m wrong, what have I done?
What am I doing?
Na-Na-Na-Na, I won’t do it!

Daniel Johnston
To pollute the minds of young people
Other people can laugh
cos they can say Dan Johnston is crazy
But I can’t laugh
I don’t want my son to be a laughing stock
And that’s what you are.

The Waves of D’Angelo
How will you tell me, how will I know?
If you sink beneath the waves of D’Angelo
Will it be easy to look up from below?
As your last breath leaves you on the ocean floor
Will the tell the wives by telephone?
Singing 8–1–8–1–8–1–0
Who was your favorite, me or her?
Didn’t I care for you although?
I fixed your meals and I mended your clothes
I did all the things a wife should do
and some things she shouldn’t

Italian Composer Ennio Morricone with Se telefonando – Jan 11, 2009
—
I’ve been reading up on the life of Ennio Morricone, as a result of listening his great soundtrack to the movie “Once upon a time in the West”. Apparently he completed a four year harmony course at an Italian music conservatory in just six months!
His first hit was “Se telefonando”, performed by Mina Mazzini. What I love about this song is how it’s made up of one verse, and a really long chorus with seven key changes. Another technique of his is the female choir singing in unison and without words. They blend with the strings so well that sometimes it’s difficult to distinguish the sopranos from the violins.

*New Song* Locked in the Mainframe – Aug 03, 2008

mp3: Locked in the Mainframe

Locked in the Mainframe
Locked in the Mainframe, without all the passwords
Look behind the picture, there should be a trapdoor
Climb through the airways, and out into the open
and feel the snowflakes, melting on your face
But please be gentle with me
Our plans may reveal themselves obviously
I know you’d like me to stay but I’ll probably leave
Especially, when I have the answer to your only problem
So you climb between dustbins, and duck between trees
And I watch you from my window, as you try to find me
But my bottles are empty, my cigarettes are burnt out
At least I wouldn’t be lonely, if you were here with me
So I blow all my candles out, and sit in the darkness
and I whistle your favourite songs in the air
Don’t you dare ever rely on me

Nature Lovers
We’re just two nature lovers taking a walk
If I touch your hand it’s only an accident
Pass me the bread I want to feed the ducks
Your careless touch, it turns me on so much
Please, park you car under my window
so I can see down your dress when you open the door
Please park your car under my window
I want to see down your dress when you open the door
It’s not all I want, but it’ll do for now
It’s not all I want, but it’ll do for now
for now…
Pass me the binoculars I see a Finch
Oh no! it’s just a Lesser Tit
Those ASBO kids are doing a wee in the pond
I shield your eyes, your far too young for this
What are you doing on Monday?
There’s a program on BBC2
If you free on Monday, can I come over and watch it with you?
If your mother’s home, we can creep up to your room alone
I’ll bring my mobile phone, and money for the bus back home, alone
You best go first across the slippery bridge
I’ll watch you from behind to stop you falling
We’ll have our picnic under those trees
where the grass is dry and the leaves are still green
You can choose a yogurt from my lunch box
I brought an extra one just for you
Please choose a yogurt from my lunchbox
you can have them both if you want to
I’ll meet you here next week
and we can do this all again
I’ll meet you here next week
and we can feed the ducks again
If we could talk like two lovers at sunset
Would the rhythm of my speech be confident?
Would you turn your gaze back at me
or would you look away?
You’re my heart, your my sole obsession
When you bend over I stand to attention
There are three things that I love about you
but only two of them are true
1. Your eyes are brighter than sunrise
2. Your smile would make any man comprimise
3. You’re all that any woman can be, and all I’ll ever need is you
We’re just two nature lovers taking a walk
We’re just two nature lovers taking a walk
We’re just two nature lovers taking a walk
